Aleppo: Fifty PYD sympathizers on trial following demonstration

KURDWATCH, October 7, 2010—On October 14, 2010, the single military judge in Aleppo will hear the cases of the following PYD sympathizers: Kawthar Ahmad Sidi (b. 1957), ʿAʾishah Ahmad Afandi (b. 1959), Mahmud ʿAbdurrazzaq Miri (b. 1988), Mustafa Daban Hamdu (b. 1984), Husayn Muhammad Qadir (b. 1984), Farhad Ibrahim Khalid (b. 1989), Khalid ʿUthman Ahmad (b. 1989), Muhammad Mustafa Ramadan (b. 1979), ʿAziz Ahmad Khalil (b. 1977), Muhammad ʿAbdullah ʿAbdurrahman (b. 1979), Nidal Ahmad Jumʿah (b. 1978), Mustafa Ibrahim Shaykh Buzan (b. 1988), Muhammad Muslim Husayn (b. 1972), ʿUthman ʿAbdu Salih (b. 1980), Shadman Mahmud Mistu (b. 1979), Najib Waysu Muhammad (b. 1981), ʿUmar Mahmud Ibrahim (b. 1976), Azad Barkal Husayn (b. 1985), Buzan Mustafa Shaykh Buzan (b. 1968), Muhammad Nawaf ʿAbdurrahman (b. 1988), Waysu Nabu Muslim (b. 1967), Muhammad Mustafa Darwish (b. 1969), Ismaʿil Ahmad Ibrahim (b. 1978), Shaykh Nabi Jumʿah Muhammad ʿAli (b. 1985), Ahmad Ibrahim Jabir (b. 1966), Mustafa Muhammad Muhammad (b. 1977), ʿAli Hamu Subhi (b. 1973), Subhi Muhammad Shaykh Damir (b. 1985), Muhammad Amin al‑ʿAli (b. 1966), Shahin Ahmad Jumʿah (b. 1980), Mihyaldin Shahin Ahmi (b. 1984), ʿAbdulqadir Ahmad Hasi (b. 1982), Kaniwar Ahmad Jumʿah (b. 1987), Ahmad Qahraman ʿUthman (b. 1982), Hasan Shaykh Mustafa Ahmad (b. 1969), ʿAbdurrahman Hasan Muhammad (b. 1985), Muhammad Hasan Salih (b. 1988), Khidir Shaykhi ʿAbdulhanan (b. 1960), Ramadan Shaykhi Mihyaldin (b. 1960), Basam Nabi Ibrahim (b. 1985), Muhammad Ahmad Buzan (b. 1988), Daham Jazaʾir Ismaʿil (b. 1987), Asʿad ʿAli Nabu (b. 1972), Mustafa Hamzah Khati Kur (b. 1973), Nihad Hisu ʿAli (b. 1988), ʿAbdulqadir Yunis Muhammad (b. 1977), Shaykh Nabi ʿAbdulhanan Khalil (b. 1986), ʿAlaʾuddin Shukri Khalil (b. 1986), ʿAdil Kanu Ibrahim (b. 1984), and Qasim Yunis Hajj Qasim (b. 1985). The attorney for the defendants told KurdWatch that his clients were arrested on November 2, 2007 in ʿAyn al‑Arab (Kobanî). Prior to their arrest they had protested against the Turkish attack on Iraqi Kurdistan as part of a demonstration organized by the Democratic Union Party, which has ties to the PKK. They were released in Aleppo six months later, on May 2, 2008.
