KURDWATCH, November 18, 2010—On November 11, 2010, the single military judge in al-Qamishli again interrogated Walid Muhammad ʿAli Husayn. The student, who is also a member of the Kurdish Freedom Party in Syria (Azadî), had already been sentenced on March 23, 2010 to one year imprisonment and a fine of 100 Syrian Lira pursuant to Article 307 of the Criminal Code. The new interrogation occurred in connection with a decision by the Court of Cassation that the individual named also should have been charged pursuant to Article 65.
