KURDWATCH, October 2, 2010—On September 13, 2010, Masʿud, alias ʿAyid Hawas Silo, (b. 1972, married, four children) was arrested by Syrian security forces at the al‑Qamishli/Nusaybin border point. Silo has lived in Germany since 1995 and was visiting Syria with his family. Family members told KurdWatch that he is currently being detained in the ʿAdra prison in Damascus and that they were not informed of the reasons for his arrest. To date, neither family members nor an attorney have been able to visit Silo in prison.
