Al‑Qamishli: Azadî member sentenced to one year imprisonment
KURDWATCH, October 5, 2010—On September 30, 2010, the single military judge in al‑Qamishli sentenced Muhammad ʿAbdi Saʿdun to one year imprisonment and a fine of 100 Syrian Lira pursuant to Article 308 of the Criminal Code, as well as to six months imprisonment and a fine of 100 Syrian Lira pursuant to Article 307 of the Criminal Code. Pursuant to Article 204 of the Criminal Code, the penalties will be combined for a total of one year imprisonment and a fine of 100 Syrian Lira. Additionally, all of Saʿdun's rights were revoked pursuant to Article 49 of the Criminal Code. A member of the politburo of the Kurdish Freedom Party in Syria (Azadî), Muhammad ʿAbdi Saʿdun was arrested on May 20, 2010 in al‑Qamishli. [Further information on the case]
